Catherine “Cat” Elumba, has over 16 years of experience in the wellness industry. Her path started with a fascination of human movement after receiving BS in Kinesiology. She furthered her movement education with a massage certification at National Holistic Institute. Bodywork was her first wellness passion and gave her insight into how self care not only increases one’s quality of care but also increased physical and mental longevity. After gaining body work experience in a variety of settings such as luxury spas like the Ritz Carlton, chiropractic care, acupuncture clinics, and wellness spas, she found that a combination of Eastern and Western therapies provides a better foundation for bodywork healing. Cat utilizes acupressure, shiatsu, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue, myofascial therapy or gua shua, and cupping combined with innovative technology based solutions to tailor a specific bodywork session for each client- aiding in the improvement of pain management, mobility and flexibility.
While bodywork therapy helped clients reach their goals, she believed there was a missing link to further increase their health goals. Having personal issues with her own gut health since she was a child, Cat decided to further her education by attending Bauman College in Berkeley. After receiving her nutrition certification, she was able to implement functional nutrition solutions geared toward helping clients with gut health issues, ranging from acid reflux, dysbiosis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to diverticulitis. She created a bone broth reset and water fast protocol to use as a catalyst to make efficient changes to uncover the root cause of this conditions. She is currently working on helping clients balance hormonal health, specifically peri-menopause and menopause symptoms.
At Catalyst Wellness, we believe that wellness depends on 5 pillars of health- community, emotional/mental, movement, nutrition, and stress management. It is the practice’s mission to educate others how to use sustainable ways to achieve these pillars- biohacking through life. Community involvement is pivotal in making public health change, and Cat believes that educating our youth is the next step in creating healthier communities. When she is not in practice with clients, she teaches in Vallejo, her hometown, and Oakland, using healthy cooking classes as an avenue to teach our youth about the power of “Food as Medicine”.
Healthy living is not a lifestyle, it is a way of living and Cat hopes to spread education through nutrition and bodywork/movement education first- helping others find their “ikigai’ or true purpose in life. At Catalyst wellness we believe that if you feel well in your body and spirit- we thrive and find our own gifts to share with the world.
We look forward to meeting you and welcome being part of your health journey.
